Katarzyna Czerwińska

Born in 1986, graduated from the Makowski Secondary School of Visual Arts in Łódź in 2006, received her diploma with honours in Prof. Andrzej M. Bartczak’s studio (2012), annexe in photography in Prof. Grzegorz Przyborek’s studio at the Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź.

Katarzyna Czerwińska defended her diploma at the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź two years ago. In one of the photographs you will see the exhibition of her diploma works. It is clear that Czerwińska’s successive works result from the same fascination with form. Their sensuality is also hard to ignore. The dominant features are their glitter and sheen, which leave no doubt that the objects should be seen as painting. Even though the artist’s works are spatial objects, they do not function like polychrome sculptures. The colour dominates everything. The accumulation of sensual experiences attracts the viewer’s attention. Immodestly playful, they arouse emotions, begging for explanation. They are vague, impossible to describe by means of the language of communication. Appetizing like gigantic candy. And equally tempting. I am using the language of infantile eroticism here, but they are what is a rarity in art – pure temptation. I recommend them wholeheartedly.
