Marlena Lenart

Born in 1984 in Brzeziny.

Marlena Lenart was my diploma student not three years ago and now she may already boast a degree of exhibition activity. Last year she presented her works in Szczecin. I have a special attitude to Marlena Lenart and her work as I have been observing her artistic development since the very beginning, right from her first days at Łódź’s ASP. I remember clearly how her initially clumsy attempts began to form a certain artistic strategy and how impatiently we waited for her next works. Certainly, they must be labelled formalistic. I am especially intrigued by the artist’s specific painting practice which generates unexpected forms. The combination of graphic techniques, airbrush-sprayed paint and composition principles based on simple algorithms generate a sensual illusion. The paintings are like mandalas – they focus our attention. Confronting these works is like meeting something both exceptional, unknown, and familiar, recognizable. I wholeheartedly recommend the works of Marlena Lenart.
